It's been more than 6 years . . .

October 2021:  It's been more than 7 years since we left on our 2nd mission to Cusco Peru.  Thinking back over those years, that experience very dear to us sometimes seems like a dream:  "Did we really do that?"  Then the memories come flooding back, we remember the people we met, the places we went, the missionaries we came to love and it kindles a yearning for that experience again.

November 2021:  OK, we're serious about it now.  A lot to consider in this decision:  family, homes, business, friends, finances, the world situation, etc, etc.  But in spite of all this there is a hand pushing us forward in this direction.

December 2021:  Application completed and submitted.  We anticipate we can go for 6 months.  We have zeroed in on a very juicy mission and service that would be very well suited for us.

January 2022:  CANADA MONTREAL, for 6 months, starting 25 April 2022.  There is inspiration, and there is "applied inspiration", heh, heh.  Well, we did put Montreal on our application, and the Mission President did request us.  We are so excited for this opportunity to serve!  We have contacted the Mission President David Harkness who is contemplating our specific assignment.  Now the preparation really starts.

February 2022:  The reality of it is starting to sink in, there is a lot to do for preparation before we'll be ready to leave.  The list is very long, so we're starting on it now.

March 2022:  It's just around the corner, with the turn of the calendar.  We have started pre-MTC training with Elder & Sister Curtis, who are our training mentors.  We have 5 two-hour Zoom session with them.  They have been on 2 missions (like us) and are a great source of training and inspiration.  Especially in fully utilizing the Church website, all the resources, links, and information that's contained in it - but only if you know where to look and how to navigate around in it.

We now have our assignment:  To the Sydney Nova Scotia branch.  How great is that!!  If you look on Google Maps, its about the farthest away you can drive on paved roads.  We're sticking right out into the North Atlantic Ocean!  We go from living in Cusco at 11,057 ft above sea level to 57 ft above sea level.  Further than Fairbanks, AK, further than Key West, FL.  Just getting there will be an adventure.  About 3,500 miles!  5 days to Montreal, and another 2 days from there to Sydney.  We will probably only be in Montreal twice, once upon our arrival, and again when we leave about 15 November.

17 April 2022:  Due to a little glitch in our pre-mission preparation schedule, our setting apart as senior missionaries is today, instead of April 20.  It was done at 8:00am by President Wilding, our Stake President.  Our Bishop John Littel was also present.  Dawn will leave today for Farmington, and I will follow on Wednesday.  We will be in Farmington until we leave for the 1st week of MTC training on April 25.

Please be a little patient as we work through the multitude of details in getting ready to depart.  Really, our lives will simplify and the stress levels will drop significantly as soon as we're away.  More posts will be coming.  I promise they won't disappoint!
