6 months has gone . . . and we have to leave our dear Sydney friends

6 months can seem like a long time - or a very short time.  As we near the end of our Mission, it seems like a short time.  During the last week, we took some time to do some things we wanted to do before we left:

You can't leave Canada without going to a hockey game.  It was fun, no fights though, and the local Cape Breton Eagles didn't prevail against a Quebec team.

After helping Sister Johnson with a My Heritage animation, Norm and Karen have us out for supper one last time at Colette's, a favorite eatery in Glace Bay.

We did a Video History for Sister Julia, and she posed for a photo with Sister Johnson afterwards

An Appreciation Supper put on by the Primary was enjoyable.  The kids prepared the meal and served it as well, they were quite the little waiters.  I have video which is worth a million youTube views:  Josh Eats Spaghetti.

Sister Bonnie is the Branch Librarian.  She always has the right materials readily at hand, and her bright smile makes everyone's day a little brighter.

We speak in Church for the last time on October 23.  After the meeting block, there is a "Linger Longer" social in the cultural hall with delicious eats and great mingling with out Branch friends, some of whom we won't have the opportunity to see again.  The Branch presents us with a Cape Breton photo book, it's beautiful, and we wish we could have seen all of these spectacular places.  There is also a card signed by the Branch members.  We will treasure these forever.

Sister Joann is the "afghan lady".  Several months ago, we got asked a vague "what are your favorite colours?" question.  We didn't think much about it til this day, when we were presented with several colorful afghans made by Sister Joann.  My favorites are the fall colours:  red, yellow, orange, and there they are on a snuggly afghan.  Sister Johnson got one also, as well as a couple others for special people.  We will remember Joann and the Sydney branch every time we wrap up in these.

Debbie, Kenny, Anne, James, Holly, Alex, and Norm enjoy the delicious Cape Breton food while socializing.

Two dear friends are Maritia and Anne.  They insisted we take a picture with them before we left, which we were happy to do.

I presented young Khoi with his own Power Kite.  His friend Alex has one just like it, and he will help Khoi learn to use it in the stiff Cape Breton winds.

James is my go-to guy when we are on a chainsaw project, and you can see why.  He can move and stack the wood as fast as I can cut it.

Sisters Uyen and Norma take a moment with Sister Johnson.  A little emotion going on here, no?

Yes, Sister Johnson is quite emotional, especially when saying goodbye to her good friend Anne

On Sunday evening, we get invited over to Kenny & Anne's for supper with friends and family, and get schooled in the game of "greed".  I won, so they say, and I don't have a clue how it happened.  Ernestine tells Sister J she's got to hold one and roll 2 for the big score.

Our beautiful Sydney chapel is in a very peaceful setting at 230 Evergreen Drive.  We have so many wonderful memories of the marvelous things that we participated in here.
